Fairy Tail anime series

Fairy Tail is among the many hugely popular and never ending sci-fi animes. The description of this anime is that it follows Lucy (a beginner celestial wizard) on her journey with the guild Fairy Tail. However the anime itself doesn't really closely follow Lucy at all. Many episodes and many fillers fail to exaggerate Lucy's presence.

Many events/plots are such that individual brawls take place, each taking nearly an episodes length. Obviously the outcome slightly favours the side of Fairy Tail. The major backstories are fairly vague and take a long time to progress (usually by tiny snippets at the end of each episode).

Having said that, the first few plot changes were quite enjoyable as more team members were recruited. But as it continued onwards, it soon got repetitive. Only plot progressing segments were enjoyable for me. Let it be clear that I watched towards the start of season 2 before I gave in.

Marvels TV series

There are so many new shows being pumped out by Marvel. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Arrow, The Flash, Daredevil, etc. What's interesting is that some of these are in the same universe. It is quite worth while to watch both Arrow and Flash at the same time as they overlap at some point.

Half of these are not supernatural so if you don't enjoy Sci-fi as much, the action and storyline are all quite intense. Although in some aspects, all these vigilante-hero type genres have stereotypical resolutions.

Pokemmo. Online pokemon!

Being a fan of the first few generations of pokemon, I grew up playing pokemon fire red on the gameboy. This was awesome, but of course had some downsides.

Pokemmo is basically the gameboy version on a laptop emulator where you can interact with other online players making a more enjoyable experience. Whilst still having a story mode to follow individually.

People actually trade pokemon and TMs! The mostly useless pokeyen in single player mode becomes quite useful as a source of currency. Not only this, but having the right .gba files can allow multiregion gameplay. And cross region trading! As of now, the first three regions are supported by pokemmo.

However, completing one region is not the same as completing all the regions. The ability to fly and surf are not applicable if you have not learnt the HM.

It's great for pokemon lovers. There are so many shiny pokemon floating around too!

Difference between Dota2 and League of Legends

Both these RTS games are insanely popular with extremely diverse communities. Yet everyone has a preference. Mine is LoL.

In comparison, Dota2 feels slow. From my own experience, League of Legends has faster paced gameplay and needs faster reactions to improve skill. This is primarily caused by the need to turn in Dota2. These split seconds of turning the hero around makes the game feel slobbish.

In some aspects, LoL can be considered easier to some extent. Dying in Dota2 results in some gold being stolen, whilst LoL has no such consequence. Yet, both games have systems to reward the killer less if the victim is continuously slaughtered.

Another obvious difference is the availability of heroes/champions. Champions must be bought (by game earnt influence points or store bought riot points) in order to be played. No limitations are apparent in Dota2 where the whole list of heroes can be freely selected and played.

If these games don't suit you, try a first person shooter RTS like Smite.

Aion is what Flyff should have been

Before Flyff updated to Flyf Gold, it was a very simplistic grinding game with minimal quests. The name of the game "fly for fun" failed to live up to expectations. The flying component was extremely limited and the in-air combat was horrendous. The only purpose of flying was for transport.

Aion, on the other hand, makes flying enjoyable with instant gliding and timed flights. Each instance of gliding or flying has a maximum limit. Resulting in being dropped from flight.

Interestingly, these gliding and flying components are separate from the teleporting and transportation services Aion has to offer. Gliding serves as a fun manoeuvring skill for a little increase in movement in any area.

It must be noted that free flying is only available in a few locations. Whilst gliding is possible everywhere.

Old Maplestory

Back in the good old days Maplestory used to be fun. Nowadays, there are so many promotions that make the journey to maximum level effortless and unenjoyable.

It used to take a few weeks to get to job advancements. Farming red snails because we knew no better. Achieving even the first job advancement gave us a sense of accomplishment.

Another massive part of Maplestory I miss is thr party quests... They used to be so fun and interactive with the Monster Carnival being so memorable. But Nexon decided to shove all the party quests into one small room and change the rewards of each one.

Way too many changes have happened and this made a large population of Maplestory players leave. The abundance of classes each being easier and more powerful than the previous has made the fundamental explorer category useless.

Nexon's desperate release of new content fails to excite many players. The players feel cheated as they become irrelevant after putting in hard work to create a highly sought class.

Time based games

Who loves them farming games? Waiting for crops to grow to eventually profit off them and repeat with more expensive crops...

I was hooked on these time-based games from a particular app on the apple store... From what I remember, it was a Smurfs farming game (Smurf's Village).

The gameplay was quite stereotypical as I mentioned above. And this was okay for quite some time. Until I discovered that changing the time on the actual electronic device could manipulate the waiting time. So I stopped playing it.

Later, I tried playing Tiny Tower without cheating. It was pretty addicting until the tower got so tall that it became a chore to restock and collect...

At this moment, I am playing Clash of Clans on my android device which seems to be much more interesting than the previous games. Although the wait times are extremely long, it gets quite interesting with the stealing of loot. War and the ranking system also make me want to stick around.

Definitely check out Clash of Clans. The community is simply massive.
