For quite some time I have been making money off an online massively multiplayer role playing game called Realm of the Mad God.
This game is a crazy bullet dodging game where you lose your character when you die. The reality of this means there is a constant demand to rebuild characters with stats and items.
I personally have invested a large amount of time into this game by securing an extremely useful pet. Since a pet cannot die, I can confidently farm potions (consumed to increase stat points) and sell them in real world trading markets.

Of course there are other individual shops with their individual websites and businesses that sell and/or buy items at varying prices.
Unfortunately the economy is currently quite saturated, reducing a before $0.60 potion costing only $0.20 now.
